Check out these 15 great spring books for preschoolers. I absolutely love the spring season. After the cold dreariness of late winter, I am always ready for sunshine and green leaves and bright blooms. Spring is a season of rebirth and renewal, and the new life growing everywhere always lifts my spirits.
Before diving into the spring books for preschoolers list, let’s take a look at where reading comprehension is headed.
By Kindergarten, children are asked to retell familiar stories – with prompting and support – including key details.
Children will also be asked to compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories, again with prompting and support.
YOU can do this now with your preschooler to prepare for Kindergarten, along with practicing balance that will also help with reading skills. How?
In short:
- Read a lot.
- Relate the story back to your preschooler’s world.
- How does it compare with their life?
- Can they relate this book to others?
- How does the book reflect the world around them?
Read. Talk. Relate. Repeat.
Any age or stage, reading is the way to go. We can reinforce the lessons children learn in the world around them through reading. They also get introduced to storytelling, letter and word sounds, and memorization.
That is why we make literacy (and math!) the primary focus of our preKrate subscription box. We include a list of recommended supplemental reading material and books in every box, in addition to the curriculum and activity materials.
